No, there are no special instructions and this should not be necessary.
As the manual states, the terminal can be addressed either via USB (using the CDC driver) or, which is probably the more common case, directly via the serial interface (Tx/Rx, positive 3V3 logic, as e.g. with the Raspy). Only ASCII characters are transmitted, also for screen control and special functions such as graphics, system menu etc. Except for the alpha-numeric characters, everything is initiated with escape (ESC) sequences and executed directly.
